Generally speaking, “Amazons” is a term used for referring to the popular, bright colored parrots renowned for their ability to talk such as blue-headed parrots, orange-wing parrots, or mealy parrots. However, over 1500 bird species have been recorded from floor to canopy of the Amazon basin rainforest—guans curassows, trumpeters, parrots, macaws, toucans, herons, aracari, eagles, jeweled hummingbirds and more. The Amazon basin has the greater density of birds per km2 than any other region.
